Kemper Collections

The Educators Toolkit contains portfolios of artwork corresponding to special collections-related tours designed for schools and the public. The Kemper Museum’s education department also offers more than 60 free educational programs and events each year.

DEFINING MOMENTS
Dating from the 1910s to the not-too-distant past, the significant and influential works on view in this exhibition embody the history of formal and conceptual experimentation and aesthetic progress that helped shape the art world of today. Defining Moments underscores the powerful influence the art of the past has had on that of the present.

The Kemper Museum offers a self-guided family activity to enhance your tour of works from the collection throughout the campus grounds.

ART MATTERS
Art Matters is a collaboration between the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for school districts that are Arts Partners members. Offered to high school students, this two-hour tour examines issues related to aethestics and art criticism by responding to key questions critical to the understanding of modern and contemporary art and by developing criteria via role-playing. The images in this section represent works from the collection that are part of the Art Matters dialogue. New acquisitions and special exhibitions enhance the Art Matters tour.

IN TOUCH WITH ART
Please touch! With the assistance of staff or volunteer docents and wearing special gloves, blind and low-vision visitors of all ages are invited to experience many works of art in a tactile and/or auditory manner.
